The Pete Rudeforth Jazz Band

A London-based jazz band formed from the very finest Dixieland and Swing musicians on the scene today. The music is hot, uplifting, beautiful and rhythmically infectious. At times, due to the skilful arrangements, it seems as if the band might be bigger than it is. The programme is entertaining, humorous and original, whilst being directly connected to the great British jazz bands.
PETER RUDEFORTH - TRUMPET

Peter is one of Britain’s most in-demand jazz trumpet players. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music. He has played with
many of the greats including 12 years with Kenny Ball and his Jazzmen and 11 years with Chris Barber. He has also been a
member of The Palm Court Theatre Orchestra, The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra, The Charleston Chasers, Carl Rosa Opera
Company, Theatretrain, and Royal Opera House Dance Band.
JULIAN STRINGLE - CLARINET and SAXOPHONE

Julian won the Best Clarinettist award in the British Jazz Awards 2019. He is a breath-taking clarinet player with faultless
technique, innate harmonic judgement, and his own distinctive melifluous sound. He has played on concert, club, festival and
broadcast dates with his own bands and with:- Peanuts Hucko, Wild Bill Davison, George Chisholm, Kenny Ball, Don Lusher,
Kenny Baker, Cleo Laine & Sir John Dankworth.
ANDY FLAXMAN - TROMBONE

Since leaving the Army in 1997, where he served as the Principal Trombonist of the Band of HM Coldstream Guards, Andy
has worked extensively with the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, The Glenn Miller Orchestra (UK) and the Len Phillips Big Band. He
is now the lead trombonist in Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra. On the jazz scene he has performed with many jazz greats
including Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball, Terry Lightfoot and Humphrey Lyttleton. Andy has played his trombone in many West End
shows such as ‘Sinatra’ at the London Palladium, ‘Guys and Dolls’ at the Piccadilly Theatre and ‘Anything Goes’ at Theatre
Royal, Drury Lane, to name but a few.
TIM HUSKISSON - PIANO

Tim has established himself as one of the busiest musicians on the Jazz club circuit. Playing Vintage and Modern styles on
piano and clarinet, he has worked with Bruce Adams, Steve Waterman, Allan Ganley, Dave Shepherd, Pete Strange, Roy
Williams, Betty Smith, Enrico Tomasso, Steve Fishwick, George Melly, ‘Spats’ Langham, Simon Spillett, Alan Barnes, Dennis
Rollins, Eric Delaney, Keith Nichols, Snowboy, Kenny Ball, Alan Skidmore, George Chisholm, John Altman, Cy Laurie, Gordon
Campbell, Spike Heatley, Colin Bowden, etc. 

SANDY BURNETT - DOUBLE BASS
As a double bass player, Sandy has performed, toured and recorded with many of the finest musicians, artistes and
ensembles from Britain and beyond. In the genres of jazz, chamber, orchestral, funk and film music, Sandy has played bass
for and with, amongst many others: Blue Harlem, Gerard Kenny, National Theatre, Alan Barnes, John Barnes, Tony Coe,
Jacqui Dankworth, Hugh Jackman, London Symphony Orchestra, Hank Marvin, Imelda May and the Swingle Singers. He is
also a highly respected radio presenter, having worked for BBC Radio 3 between 1994 and 2007. He has led lecture trips to
the Malta Baroque Festival, La Scala Milan, the Schwetzingen Festival, the Aldeburgh Festival, the West Cork Chamber Music
Festival, and to three operas at the Arena di Verona.
JOHN ELLMER - DRUMS

John is a talented multi-instrumentalist and long time member of the Mardi Gras Jazz Band on clarinet and saxophones. John
is a fine jazz drummer. He has has worked with many of the luminaries of the British jazz scene including Terry Lightfoot, John
Crocker, Mike Cotton, Roy Williams and John Bennett. In 2017 John made a CD, where he wrote some arrangements, played
all his instruments at some point, small, medium, and big band. Some favourite tunes, but different versions, and some originals.
